We were fishing in the Florida Keys by the Seven Mile Bridge and we had had a great day of fishing and were ready to pack it up for the day, but when we tried to pull the anchor up it was stuck on something. We tried for a half an hour to pull it free with no luck, so I knew what I had to do. I put on the snorkel and goggles and dove down 15 feet to see if I could free up the anchor, when I got down there I couldn't even see the anchor, but I could see the anchor rope disappear into a hole. So I followed the rope towards the hole and as I looked in it a 300 lb Goliath grouper opened its mouth right in front of my face and came towards me, I then swallowed half the ocean in a panic to get back to the surface. So after the initial shock I thought it would be funny to get one of my friends down there and give him a scare. So I told my friend I needed his help to get the anchor out and should go down there and check it out and see what we had to do. And to my surprise he agreed and put on the goggles and followed the rope down to the anchor. I followed behind him to see his reaction when he seen the grouper pop his head out. He neared the hole and I was already starting to laugh and then I seen him spit out a mouth full of bubbles and go darting past me and knew he had seen the fish and I almost drowned because I was laughing so hard under the water. By time I surfaced he was almost in the boat already in a panic. He laughs at it now, but wasn't too happy at the time. We ended up cutting the rope and had to leave the anchor because no one else would go in the water.
